Guiding Principles of the Commission
Five commitments frame the design of the Commission. These commitments will help ensure that the process of engagement is productive, inclusive, balanced, and executed at a high level of professionalism.
· Respected and Influential Stakeholders
The Commission will be comprised of individuals serving in their private capacities drawn from the major constituencies involved in globalization.
· Gender Parity
The Commission will be gender balanced. A Women's Advisory Council, Chaired by Mahnaz Afkhami, President of the WomenÕs Learning Partnership, has been established to assist with this goal.
· Geographic and Cultural Balance
The Commission will be comprised of equal numbers of OECD and non-OECD participants to ensure a cultural, racial, and ethnic balances of perspective. An Advisory Council on Regional Balance, Chaired by Khadija Haq, President of the Human Development Center of Pakistan, has been established to assist with this goal.
· Constructive Reform and Institution Building
The Commission will concern itself with strengthening global governance and the international system through reform.
· Spirit of Respect and Collaboration
The process of engagement within the Commission will be one of mutual respect and constructive collaboration between the individuals drawn from the various constituencies.
